I have been in rooms with high-performers my entire adult life.
First as a coach on the field, in rowing, and rugby. Then as an HR Business Partner, close to the leaders making decisions that shaped entire organizations. I watched people perform at extraordinary levels and feel privately hollow doing it. And as also being a leader and later being a business owner, I wasn't watching from the outside. I was one of them.
What I learned, eventually, is that the thing underneath the performance is almost never what people say it is. I learned to hear what that is. That is what I do now.

From expectation, from pressure, from what their business "should" look like
